Dec 08, 2015@bengineerd: the sub-panel will have its own limitations, and it's also limited by the size of breaker in the main box used to run the sub-panel. Common sizes for sub-panels are 40A and 60A. Obviously adding a 60A sub-panel doesn't mean you have an extra 60A capacity on the house, you're still limited by the service coming in.
