1992 Ford F-Series: Problem Switching Dual Fuel Tanks
The problem has to be, or at least related to, the fuel tank selector switch. This guy does all the work. When you're in "front tank mode" the selector switch sends 12 volts to power the electric fuel pump in the front tank. At the same time it connects the fuel gauge sending unit in the front tank to the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster.

Apr 27, 2012I just installed a new aux. fuel tank and new sending unit in my 76 Bronco. I need the wiring diagram for the dash mounted fuel gauge selector switch. The factory plug was removed and it appears to only have 2 wires with crimp connectors going to the switch. OF COURSE I had to unplug both wires and now both gauges read empty.

Jan 31, 2016I've recently learned that the fuel tank selector switch wire plug harness, is commonly known for the ground wire burning up. I've changed it twice before but this time when I checked the brown wire with white stripe it was melted. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Have you all heard of this problem also?
