Nov 12, 2016I am having to replace an old Newlec extractor because it is screeching. I noticed that this fan does not have any timer control that I can find, however it does overrun when the light is switched off. I checked the wiring and there, is Live, Neutral and Earth (earth not used) There is definitely no perm Live and switched live.

Dec 19, 2009Need some help. My bathroom ceiling extractor fan needs replacing (bearings gone making horrid screeching noise). Having taken down and require a standard 4in 20w replacement that runs from light switch when light turned on/off. Current wiring has a three cables going to fan as follows: N-Blue / L-Red / S/L-Yellow.

Jan 25, 2004I’m looking to fit an extractor fan with a timer in the bathroom such as 12473. Supersparky suggested connecting a three wire plus earth cable from the light fitting to the fan. Just wire this through the 3 pole switch to allow isolation of all three wires.
