WIRING DIAGRAM RELAY 87 30 87A
Relay terminal 30 and 87a - Pelican Parts Forums
This is incorrect^^ 30 is connected to the pump. 87 is connected to power via the starting circuit. 87a is power connected to the ignition "run" position. Removing the relay and jumping socket 30 to any source of power will make the pump run. You can run a fused jumper directly to the battery, put in your switch, and connect the lead from the switch to socket 30 and you can run the pump[PDF]

Numbers of a Relay. Looking at the diagram, we see the pinout of a typical 12V relay. Note that each pin is numbered. 85 and 86 are the coil pins while 30, 87, and 87a are the contact pins. 87 and 87a are the two contacts to which 30 will connect. If the coil is not activated, 30 will always be connected to 87a.
What is pin 87A for?(relay) - Ignition and Electrical
Jul 04, 2005Ok I think I may have answered my own question.. After staring at some more diagrams, I think that the reason there are two 87 pins(87 & 87A) is because 87 is set up for a circuit that is normally open(the contact rest on 87A) and 87A is set up for a circuit that is normally closed and when the cicuit/relay is energized it opens the contact.
5 pole relay wiring | The H.A.M.B.
Jul 11, 2013To identify the 30 and 87A terminals, apply 12V power to the 85 and 86 wires. The relay should 'click' (coil pulled in) and you'll no longer have continuity between 30 and 87A. You will have continuity between 87 and one of these wires now, whichever one 'reads' to 87 is 30. If you're still stumped, PM me for my phone #..
Wiring a 5 prong relay switch (pins 85,86, 30, 87, and 87a
Apr 18, 2013Hello. I am having problems wiring a 5 prong relay switch (pins 85,86, 30, 87, and 87a) in my car. Basically what I am trying to do is make a homemade car alarm system. I connected a toggle switch and horn to the cars interior dome light so that it goes off whenever someone opens the door. The problem is that once someone closes the door it automatically shuts off.
