WIRING RECEPTACLES OVER 1000 FEET AWAY
Voltage Drop to outlet 350 feet away - Page 2
Feb 10, 2013I am already getting into it with foreman. We are running 4 120v outlets in a warehouse on 1 circuit 350' from panel. Foreman is running 3/4 emt with #12 thhn wire. My arguement is that he has to figure for voltage drop, I come up with #4! His arguement is he wired all the lights in the entire buildiing using #12 some alot farther away.
I want to run power to my garage about 1,000 feet away
Mar 29, 2012I want to run power to my garage about 1,000 feet away from my house.? Normally #6 AWG copper would be sufficient but since it is 1000 feet you should be using a larger wire gauge. If you do not use over 48 amperes which is 80% the rating of the circuit breaker #4 AWG copper should do the job but if you think you are going to be using up to

Sizing Electrical Wire for Underground Circuit Cable
The National Electrical Code (NEC) recommends a maximum voltage drop of 3 percent for individual household circuits (known as branch circuits) is a good goal to shoot for when sizing the conductors for an underground cable following are the maximum lengths of cable you can use while still maintaining a 3 percent voltage drop for the given wire size (AWG) and circuit voltage.
